Unable to access the drive; the drive refused to spin up one evening, after working all day at the office. An attempt was made to swap out the controller board: This caused the drive to spin up, but the drive was still not recognized by the computer at all. A local drive recovery facility (without a clean room) was unable to repair, and suggested that a more full featured recovery center may be able to help.

The drive made some bad noises. I shut down. The computer shut down correctly. I then got organized to transfer files as soon as I restarted. It would not come up again. Bios recognizes drive, but then there is a failure.
