Drive DOESN'T SPIN. The drive fell about 3 feet to the carpeting...I wouldn't think could have done any physical damage but I guess so. I took it to a local comp tech and he was unable to get it to respond at all...didn't open hd/ only case. No software attempts at all.

Western Digital WD1600SB

I used Acronis to make a clone of my hard drive. Acronis uses bit copy so the copy is an exact bootable match to the HD I copied. I tried the HD on other machines and Bios will recognize it but Windows disk utilities show a volume of zero size. I restored the information from the HD to my laptop to verify readability prior to formatting my computer. When I tried to restore from the backup HD after reformatting my laptop the drive was unreadable. I used an IDE to USB adapter to create the backup and attempt the restore. Nothing just clicking sound!
