Toshiba MK1031GAS 100 GB laptop Not powering on at all. I did try to attach it as an external drive to a desktop through a USB connector. That was when I determined it was a hard drive problem not a power supply problem.

Toshiba MK1032GAX 100 GB laptop Unhappily, I overrode a warning dialogue box when I recently installed an upgrade to Norton Utilities. The warning said a macro related to a DLL file was corrupted. I tried several time to quarantine the macro, but the warning was still there the next times I tried to install the upgrade, so finally I took a chance and overrode the warning. Windows XP worked for a while after that, then failed. Now I get a white-on-black screen which announces that Windows has shut down to protect the files on the HD and gives me several re-start choices, but none gets XP working again. All of them just cause a re-boot, which brings up the same white-on-black screen again.
