Used RegistryBot and my and this hard drive were causing the system to run extremely slow and one partition was not accessible. I have not really tried any recovery programs as it took awhile to discover the problem was the hard drive and not my other hard drive which contains my operating system Windows XP Professional.

Windows 'sees' the drive. Maxtor software can give the drive parameters. The drive appears to spin. I believe the drive over heated. No recovery attempts other than trying on different PCs and at different times.
